Every now and then you'll come across power supplies which were, at one point, good but have since been replaced with poorer quality components. This isn't even considering revisions of rebrands. What you need to realize is that they're both built by Channel Well Technology (CWT) so the point of this is to realize that the manufacturer needs to be scrutinized just as much as the branding when it comes to the components used which is often dictated by price.

As an example, Corsair CX/M "Builder" series are as cheap as they are because the components and overall build quality are exactly that whereas the expensive HXi/RMi series are fantastic. Given that the power supply is not only the lifeblood but also a potential fire hazard for a system, I naturally want to find one that's both good quality and measures up to what is recommended in the Build of the Month. I was doing my usual practice of pricing the parts of the "Build of the Month" to see if it's within my means and I keep coming across the same problem I always seem to have with these: EVGA power supplies aren't available here (at least not through the sellers who will build the system I choose from the parts I pick), so I almost always have to find an alternative.
